Gangneung, the host city of the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics Ice Sports, will present various traditional and modern street arts,
including national intangible cultural assets such as Bukcheong Sajanoreum and Gangneung Nongak.
Gangneung City presents street performances, traditional banquet shows, and music and dance Busking at the 'Wolhwa Street,
' which used to be a railroad track abandoned after KTX Gyeongsang Line opened, from three days in prior to the opening of the Olympics.
This event also includes Gwanno Mask Drama and Danogut of Gangneung Danoje, which is UNESCO & national intangible cultural heritage,
along with other intangible cultural assets of Korea like Namsadang Nori, Goseong Ogwangdae, Gangneung Nongak,
and Bukcheong Sajanoreum.
Also, there will be Ganggangsullae (a 5,000-year-old Korean dance that was first used to bring about a bountiful harvest and has developed into a cultural symbol for Korea), traditional percussion, pops orchestra, and fusion opera performances, along with youth dance & music performances and cheerleading shows with eight countries such as Canada, Norway, etc. for an excitement on the streets beyond generations, national borders, and genres.
The Wolhwa Street is the background of the local love story between Muwollang and Yeonhwa, and leads from Gangneung Station to Wolhwa Pavilion by Namdaecheon River. During the event, 'The Tale of Wolhwa' will be dramatized and performed at the urban live site on Wolhwa Street.

The welcoming performance led by the villagers of 21 towns of Gangneung.* Residents of three more townships will join on 6 (Tue), 14 (Wed), and 24 (Sat).

It is Korea's one and only silent mask play of only dances and mimes and tells about the love, misunderstanding, and reunification of a nobleman and Lady Somae.

will be an event of folk religion. The percussions, songs and dances of shamanist performer, and the music of musicians create an original harmony of art.

The Sajanori and Talnoreum performed for the New Year in Bukcheong, Hamgyeongnam-do registered as National Intangible Cultural Asset #15.
In Bukcheong, each town created a lion and completed with the lions. Lion is thought to drive away the bad spirits and wish for the peace of village.
The mask play transmitted in Suyeong-dong Nam-gu, Busan with 200 years of history as National Intangible Cultural Asset #43.
It consists of a glamorous street play and four parts of mask play and reflects a protest against the nobility,
the domestic issues triggered by polygamy, and the wish for good fortune.
An orchestra of elderly whose average age is 70 or older.
The orchestra has rearranged everyone's favorite pop music to bring excitement to the Wolhwa Street.
Jeju's music spreads throughout the Wolhwa Street.
The orchestra is getting ready for an original/fresh and exciting performance from the Baroque Classical Music to modern pop music.
Gangneung Children's Nongak of local elementary school students will reenact Gangneung Nongak,
National Intangible Cultural Asset #11-4.
The best global cheerleading supporters from eight countries (Korea, USA, Canada, Germany, Switzerland, Norway,
Russia, and the Netherlands) will present a magnificent stage at Wolhwa Street Live Site for the success of Pyeongchang Winter Olympics with the people.
They will boost the heat of the Olympics with their cheerleading with the spectators.
